Sitting whole day, staring at your monitor—aside from hurting our eyes—could make us getting bored. And, when bored starts, our working performance decrease. Next? Working projects drop to the rock bottom, unfinished deadlines, and other millions bad things could happen because of one thing; getting bored at work. This might lead you in doing design mistakes (my suggestion learn about how to avoid design mistakes before continue)
To deal with getting bored at work, common things to do is checking on social media or watching funny videos. The effects are instant—you will instantly not bored—but there is another impact; our eyes might tired!
So, why not try to do simple things? Simple things that can increase our working performance while getting bored, and of course, without keep staring at monitor!
Doodling with eyes closed
Grab some papers around you, close your eyes, and start to draw things in your mind. When you’re finished, does it looked like how you imagine it? The ‘scribbly’ result will make you laugh, and your boredom can fly away! You can ask your workmate to do it too, and see whose drawing is the best. Not only get rid of your boredom, you also can cheer up your workmates!
Making a cup of coffee or other warm drinks
If you begin to yawn while working, go to your office’s kitchen and make a cup of coffee or other warm drinks. Process of making coffee will make you focus and concentrate again, put your working projects aside for a while. After back to your seat, the smell and warmness can refresh your mind
Listening to your favorite music
Easiest thing to do while bored is listening to the music. Open your smartphone, play your favorite music. Listen and enjoy two or three music. Aside from increasing your mood, listening to music can relax your mind a bit. Don’t forget to bring your earphone or headset so your music doesn’t disturb your surroundings
Rearrange your working desk
Look at your desk now, is it as tidy as before? Admit it, sometimes you are too lazy to tidy up your desk. Will your working performance increase with messy desk? Absolutely no. So, while you’re struggling with your boredom, try to tidy up your desk. Seeing a tidy and clean desk will increase your mood to work.
Chatting with someone
Observe your surroundings. Look at one of your workmates. Does he/she look tired? If they do, ask them to talk about interesting things or current issues. Or you can call your family or close friends. Catching up with friends or family will increase your mood… and also get rid of your boredom!
